In 2025, OCULUCIS—the monumental installation of two luminous, suspended “eyes” became a familiar (and unforgettable) presence across the European light-festival circuit (and also in China for Shanghai Light Festival). The work’s simple gesture is instantly readable: two giant gazes hovering in the dark. Yet the longer you stand under them, the more the piece behaves like a question rather than an object—about perception, intimacy, and what it means to truly “see.”

Why it resonated everywhere it landed

OCULUCIS is built on a poetic contradiction: it looks at you while asking you to look deeper. Festival texts repeatedly frame it as a threshold between the visible and the invisible—an invitation to move from surface-level viewing to a more interior kind of attention.

And 2025 was the year the artwork’s itinerary exploded. Multiple official programmes (not just artist communications) place OCULUCIS in festival lineups from the Mediterranean to the Baltics and deep into the Nordic autumn calendar.
